On Friday, November 8 at 10:45 AM our Social Studies Department, led by Ms. Jill Knight, sponsored our annual Veterans Day Program.

"On behalf of the Social Studies Department, we thank you for participating in today's program.  This program started off as a dram a decade ago with a couple of classes and a small group of Korean War veterans.  We are pleased to see it grow into the school wide assembly of today.  By studying our nation's history, we can recognize how it inspires us and allows us to express it through literature, art, theater, and music.  We would like to thank Mrs. Gina Benjamin, Mr. Cole Davis, and Ms. Paulette Lunn for helping us reflect on our history through video, music and drama.  We also would like to thank Gianna Bambery, Class of 2023, for her artistic design on this year's banner and to Ms. Knight's U.S. History classes for their displays.  Thank you to Mrs. Arlene Wallace for embracing our dream for this program.  And most importantly, we thank our veterans for their service and dedication for answering the call to serve."

Barrier Day 5

The Teacher Cadets learned about disabilities and participated in Barrier Day Monday, November 25.  This activity gave students a better understanding of possible disabilities that students have to face and how to compensate for and/or accommodate for those disabilities.  Likewise, it gives them a better understanding of how schools and teachers have to assist students with disabilities.  The students went through the school day maintaining his/her assigned barrier.  At the end of this experience, the students had to write about how it made them feel and how it affected their view of disabilities.

Some of the disabilities were hearing impaired, visually impaired, tactile impairment, hearing impaired, deaf mute, physical impairments, physical injuries, and orthopedically impaired.
